Steroids 101

AVOID BLACK MARKET ANABOLICS

We've created this site to offer people legal steroid alternatives. We also feel it is very important to educate people about the different types of steroids that exist. Legal steroids are a type of bodybuildin supplements many users seek out. We want to inform you about the various types of steroids, muscle builders or other anabolic agents that exist in the market place.

Legal Steroids – Legally Available Over-The-Counter!

Before the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004 that took effect on January 20, 2005 in the United States, many of the anabolic steroids were legal steroids. These muscle builders were available over-the-counter in the U.S.A. After the passage of the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004, anabolic steroids are placed on the list of controlled substances. Possession of the these banned substances a federal crime. The act also placedsome prohormones on the list of controlled substances.

Prohormones, over-the-counter (OTC) bodybuilding supplements that are similar in effect to anabolic steroids, are often referred to as legal steroids. These dietary supplements are also known as "steroid precursors.” It was after the effectuation of the Federal Anabolic Control Act on March 1st 1991, that other substitutes designed to deliver the prohormones essential for high testosterone production started making their way into the markets, claiming to provide no side effect. These prohormone substances became legally available over the counter. These were often publicized and popularized as legal steroids. Some of the widely popular prohormone nutritional supplements were Andros – 4-androstenedione, 4-androstenediol (4-AD), 19-norandrostenedione, 19-norandrostenediol, 1-androstenediol (1-AD), and DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone).

However, On April 11, 2004, the United States Food and Drug Administration banned the sale of Andro, citing that the drug poses significant health risks commonly associated with steroids.

The dietary supplements containing DHEA or DHEAS in the United States have been usually advertised as the products beneficial for a wide variety of ailments. These products are readily available in the United States, where they are regulated as foods rather than as medications, but in Canada, a prescription is required to buy DHEA. DHEA and DHEAS are often marketed as legal steroids. However, the U.S. Senate has introduced a bill that attempts to classify DHEA as a controlled substance under the category of anabolic steroids.

Types of Steroids

Anabolic steroids are natural and synthetic steroid hormones.  This type of steroid will enhance the cell growth and division, resulting in the growth of muscle mass. Anabolic Steroids are also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids.

Anabolic Steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids, are the synthetic derivatives of the naturally occurring male anabolic hormone testosterone. Different anabolic steroids have different combinations of the androgenic and anabolic properties. ‘Anabolism’ is the metabolic process of building the larger molecules from the smaller ones. The words anabolic and androgenic are originated from the Greek – anabolic, means ‘to build’ and androgenic, meaning ‘masculinizing’.

Anabolic steroids were first discovered in the early 1930s. These have been used for the various medical purposes including the stimulation of the bone growth, muscle growth, appetite and puberty.

Anabolic steroids are widely used for the chronic wasting conditions such as AIDS and cancer. These can generate certain physiological effects including the increase in the protein synthesis, muscle mass, appetite, strength, and bone growth. In spite of their positive side, when these are taken in excessive amounts, these result in many side effects such as high cholesterol level – rise in LDL, fall in HDL levels, increased blood pressure, hepatotoxicity and alterations in the left ventricle morphology.

Testosterone and di-hydrotestosterone are the physiological effects of the anabolic steroids. If it is taken during the time of pregnancy, then it can affect the development of the fetus. The maintenance of the muscle and bone mass in the adulthood including the stimulation of the puberty growth spurts, including the hair growth, sebaceous gland oil production, and sexuality, are also affected by the intake of excessive amounts.

Anabolic steroids are androgenic and generate the androgenic effects in the human body. Androgens stimulate the myogenesis that is the muscular tissue’s formation. The androgens also cause the hypertrophy of the both types of the muscle fibers. Various types of the anabolic steroids bind to the androgen receptor for varying degree depending on their chemical structure.
